Public Comment on Draft Recommendation Statements and Draft Evidence Reviews: Statin Use for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Adults and Screening for Lipid Disorders in Children and Adolescents

December 22, 2015 – The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force seeks comments on the draft recommendation statement and draft evidence review on 1) Statin Use for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Adults and 2) Screening for Lipid Disorders in Children and Adolescents. The USPSTF found evidence that statin use is beneficial for some adults ages 40 to 75 years who are at increased risk for cardiovascular disease, but did not find enough evidence to recommend their use for adults older than age 75 years. The USPSTF also found that there was not enough evidence to recommend for or against screening for lipid disorders in children and adolescents. The draft recommendation statements and draft evidence reviews are available for review and public comment from December 22 to January 25 at /uspstf/public-comments-and-nominations/opportunity-for-public-comment.
